家族书院作为造福后人 ,维系家族长盛不衰的一种文化教育事业 ,自唐代出现以来 ,即受到中国士人的特别重视 ,遍布全国各地 ,形成三种类型 ,具有五个基本特征 ,服务并满足于各地各类家族不同层次不同类型的需要 ,为文化教育事业的发展做出了贡献

Chinese Ancient Clan Academies

Ancient clan academies, as a cultural and educational cause that benefited big clans or families and maintained their prosperity, had been emphasized ever since their emergence in Tang Dynasty, China. There were three kinds of clan academies that could be found spreading everywhere in the country and that had five fundamental characteristics. They served different clans or families in different places and met their demands of different levels and categories.
