A Memetics study of the English Neologism Formation

This paper,inspired by the meme theory proposed by Richard Dawkins（ 1976）, argues for the relationship between language memes and the neologisms, the categories of language memes, the ways of the duplication and transmission of language memes, and their variation. Language memes are duplicated and and transmitted in the way of repetition and analogy to form neologism, that is, new memes, which become the weak or strong memes on the basis of the principle ＂The fittest survives＂. Only the strong memes can be transmitted in the given cultural background.
