A Brief Introduction to the Approaches of New Political Economics

The paper starts with a comparison of the new political economics with the neo-classical economics. It goes on to give an account of the major principles, framework and instruments of the new political economics, as well as its different schools of thought and representative figures. It also discusses the strengths and weaknesses of the discipline with regard to the study of political economic phenomena, including the issue of interest heterogeneity. Lastly, it gives a preliminary review of the development of the studies in the aspects of financial and economic reforms both at the macro and micro level.
