| 摘 要： | 成长问题作为一个文学主题 ,在英国文学史上占据相当重要的地位。优秀成长小说总能被各个年龄层次的读者接受。几乎各个历史时期都有优秀的、反映这一时代特征的成长小说经典涌现出来 ,名垂青史。这一传统的背后有两个动因 :一是古希腊神话、戏剧和荷马史诗的传统 ;二是 1 8世纪启蒙运动对小说创作主题的影响

| Abstract: | Initiation has remained an important literary theme in English 1iterature. Good initiation stories win a wide range of readers of different ages. There are two motivations behind the lasting thriving of the initiation story:the ancient tradition of European culture and the enlightenment movement which placed great importance on the education of children and adolescents. |
