英语专业学生议论文的主位推进模式分析

摘    要:中国大学生的英语作文常见的问题有:组织结构不合理、主题不突出、词汇量不足、例子和各种衔接手段的不当使用等。衔接理论、衔接手段和主位推进模式的使用很少被教给学生。本文以山西大同大学英语专业本科二年级学生撰写的一议论文为语料,选取45篇有效样本,运用主位推进模式来做定量分析,认为学生使用了议论文中常用的四种主位推进模式,但在运用这些模式上还是有困难的。

Abstract:In the English compositions Chinese college students' difficulties mainly lie in poor organization, poor topic prominence, limited vocabulary, inadequate use of examples and details and the poor or inadequate use of various cohesive devices. The knowledge of cohesion and of the use of cohesive devices and thematic progression patterns is seldom taught.Forty-five sample writings were chosen as valid corpora in this study. All of them are from compositions written by second-year English majors in the school of Foreign Language of Shanxi Da Tong University.Using Thematic Progression Patterns to make a quantitative analysis of the samples.After careful analysis,In total four major types of thematic progression patterns have been found in the body parts of the students" compositions. However, it is also clear that students still have much trouble in manipulating and appropriately assembling those patterns. Conclusions were reached to provide some implications for the teaching of EFL writing in China.
