| Abstract: | This paper briefly reviews the views of west scholars on the process, stages of demographic transition, and the causes of the transition in micro - scale and macro - scale view, the debates of Chinese scholars on China's demographic transition. The author holds that the study of the population transition in traditional society like China should pay more attention on the relations between demographic transition and the structure transformation, institutional changes in their modernization process. |
