美国社会中的苗族家族组织

在20世纪70年代中期,由于战争的原因,居住在老挝的一部分苗族移民到了美国等多个国家.这部分苗族在新的生存环境中必然遭遇文化的不适应性,必然面对如何选择应对手段与策略的问题.作者通过参与观察的亲身经历,从亲类、同姓、同姓联盟等三个层面论述了美国苗族如何利用苗族家族组织来调适和应对在美国的生存与发展,为探索传统文化与现代化的结合提供了一个典型的案例.

The Familial Organization of the Miao People in American Society

In the middle of the 1970s, some of the Miao people emigrated from Laos to America or other countries for the reason of war. Certainly, facing a strange place, they encountered the cultural inadaptation and had to decide how to select suitable ways and strategies of response. On the basis of participatory and experience of the author, this paper discusses how they used their familial organization in three levels, the family, relatives of the same surname, and the leagues of the same surname, to answer the challenge and accommodate themselves for the existence and development. This is a typical example in the study of exploring the combination of traditional culture and modernization.
