| Abstract: | This paper makes some explorations of the constant tWo-sided nature in Goethe's writing from suchaspects as the duality of Goethe's thought and character, the peculiarity of the social and political background in 18th-century Germany, and the literary history. It attempts to give a reasonable explanation of his writing. |
