This article starts from the main ideas of the articles by Fu Lei and Zhang Ailing in 1944 which take contrary sides.It demonstrates the rich heroic temperament of characters in Zhang Ailing′s novels.The main characters in Zhang′s novels share same temperaments: keen insight,meticulous and subtle sense,and strong introspective spirit,able to see the impermanence of the world and the life.They do not drift along with the surrounding environment but try hard to catch any reliable things either in the material or the spiritual world.They fail at last.From the characterization,we can see Zhang Ailing′s thought of life and her conclusion.
