Identification with and Re creation of Traditional Poetic Aesthetics: A Review of the Poetry of LIN Geng in the 1930's

LIN Geng's poems in the 1930's expressed the individual poetic feelings of loneliness and yearning for the intellectual dream. They kept themselves at arm's length from the dominant mode of the time. They seemed misty aesthetical, but mixed with elements of reality and deeper experiences of humanity. Their traditional flarour was very strong, and they fully acquired `the beauty' of late Tang dynasty. The poet often expressed contemporary morale through traditional images. He often adopted strange media, or synthesized two opposite images and feelings.
