Individual and Social Implications of Human Differences |
| |
Abstract: | A framework for understanding what all kinds of human differences-ranging from race, sex, and age to religon and political affiliation- have in common is presented. Three sources of difference are identified, and the process by which social and individual meanings are attached to diferences are identified. The framework allows for a general understanding of the dynamics and implications of differences of all kinds-essential in an increasingly pluralistic society. Suggestions for the model's application in clinical practice, policy, and administration are provided. |
