Abstract: | Abstract Product Summary: The Mini-SCID is a microcomputer version of the Structured Clinical Interview for DSM-III-R (SCID) and is structured to collect data directly from patients with at least a 7th grade reading level. It is suggested by its authors that the derived data can be used for two purposes. First, it can be utilized for the first stage of a complete diagnostic evaluation to be combined with another software package, DTREE, the computer based system for making DSM-III-R diagnoses. Second, it can be utilized for screening for the presence of adult Axis I disorders. Since it has been designed to be overinclusive (i.e., to give a high rate of false positive responses) the authors recommend that it only be employed in conjunction with a complete clinical exam.
