| Abstract: | ABSTRACT This paper reports the results of a study that examined attitudes towards and strategies for providing family care for African American elders. The study utilized qualitative methodology to gather the data and a Kinscripts perspective as a framework through which to analyze the data. Specifically, this was a case study of one large, extended African American family which has its roots in a rural area of North Carolina. The study found a continued commitment to provide in family care for elders with an emphasis on spreading tasks across a broad range of family members rather than relying on a primary caregiver. |
