整合的女性形象——奥尼尔中晚期剧作中的女性

奥尼尔在中晚期三部剧作中描述的公爱碧.普特南姆、玛丽.泰龙和乔希.霍根三位女主人的形象,没有单纯继承西方文学作品中女性传统的、类型化的创作传统,而是采用形象整合的创作手法,再现了具有双重乃至多重性格的活生生的女性形象：母亲-妓女（地母）、毁灭（陷阱）者-拯救（受害）者,透出作者“客观的”女性观。

The Integration of Woman Images: on Female Characters in O'Neill's Plays of the Middle and Late Periods

Based on the exploration of some influential factors for the playwright's female views,a close analysis is made of the multi-natured female characters represented in Eugene O'Neill's middle and late plays: mother-whore(earth mother),destroyer-saver,victimizer-victim,and thus making a conclusion that,in the representation of women in his plays,Eugene O'Neill doesn't simply represent women in the stereotyped image of Western tradition but to present them to be integrated images,and then creating much more lively woman images on the stage,which can reflect his objective views on women.
