| Abstract: | This paper introduces the actualities, mission and trend of institutional research in American universities. In order to clarify its functions in higher education management decision, it describes the condition of the offices of institutional research in some of them. Through the comparison of higher education institutions both in America and in China, we can acquire enlightenment from it. |
