A Study on Financial Derivatives Market in China

In the context that China Banking Regulatory Commission published and executed the Provisional Administrative Rules Governing Derivatives Activities of Financial Institutions, this paper reviews and sum- marizes the history and background of financial derivates market in China. It further discusses the issues con- cerning the future of this market and new products development. It also points out that China's financial de- rivatives market is going to boom in the near future and there coexist opportunities and risks. A proposal is made in the paper that relating supervision authorities should take the opportunity to develop new products and formulate regulations to promote the product innovation so as to ensure the healthy development of financial business.
