An Investigation on the Friendship Between Shun Chenze and Wang Duo and Their Different Life Styles in the Early Qing Dynasty

Shun Chenze and Wang Ze, two top officials of the early Qing Dynasty, were also two important representatives of the paintings and calligraphy of early Qing Dynasty. They were close friends who always spent time together appreciating paintings and calligraphy. However, because both ot them were tortured by the huge po- litical pressure and the deep guilty of serving two empires, Shun and Wang chose different life styles. While Wang adopted a decadent attitude and sought comfort in alcohol and arts, Shun faced reality positively, writing books and appreciating paintings and calligraphy.
