A Preliminary Introduction to the Controversies over the Aryan Invasion Theory in Contemporary Indian Politics

This paper is trying to provide a preliminary introduction to the con- troversies over the Aryan Invasion Theory （AIT） in contemporary Indian politics. As we have seen in resent decades, AIT has become a key bone of contention a- mong all Indian parties involved in the increasingly communal politics. More im- portantly, AIT has also been turned into a target of the Hindu Right, right - wing politicians, and even the communal violence, for it is against the premise of their claim to be the ＂sons of the soil＂.
