Analysis and Comments on the Multidimensional Characteristics of Mother in Everyday Use

Female characters are always treated either as angels or devils in literary works.The American woman writer Alice walker broke the stereotypes about women and created a black woman with multidimensional characteristics in the novel everyday use.The black woman was not as pretty-looking as an angel and also she was not reduced to a devil or a mad woman under the pressure of racial and sexual oppression.Mother appeared in the novel as a self-reliant,tranquil and contented black woman.
