| Abstract: | This paper expounds the connotation of "soul" which was used by Fang Dongshu to comment on poetry. It is pointed out in this paper that Fang Dongshu carried forward and renovated the imagery tradition of Chinese poetics by resorting to "soul" to review poetry. |
