Comparison and Revelation on Herbart and Dewey's Views of the Relationship Between Teachers and Students

This paper is an analysis of the biased understandings of Herbart and Dewey's views of the relationship between teachers and students,the opposite views in particular.There are some differences between Herbart and Dewey on the views of educational aim,idiographic teaching approach and educational management,but they both affirm that teachers play important part in teaching activity,and they both attach importance to the training and development of children's personality and interest.They both believe that respect and love are the foundation of constructing a good relationship between teachers and students.All of these give us various revelations to understand and set up new style of relationship between teachers and students.
