Rose and Snake: The Biblical Metaphor in Sula

As the most influential women writer,Toni Morrison is not only excelled at using language and related the present with the history,but also quite familiar with Bible.So critics must pay much attention to the influence of Bible.This paper takes Sula as example and metaphor of Bible as its evidence,analyses the symbolic meanings of the mark on Sula's eye.The writer finally makes the conclusion that by using the mark of rose and snake on Sula's eye,Morrison wants to create a typically new woman that is full of the spirit of rebellion and revolution.
