| 摘 要： | 日本人在外国人看来理应"感谢"的场面往往用"致歉",即表示歉意的说法表达向对方的谢意.例如,在"学生恳求导师延长读书报告提交期限得到同意"这样的场面,绝大多数英国学生都用"Thank you(谢谢)"来致谢,而绝大多数日本学生却用"すみません(对不起)"来致谢.日本人这种在"感谢"场面使用"致歉"的说法并不是随意的,而是有制约条件的.并且日本人在致谢时往往不直接说"ありがとうございます(谢谢)"或"すみません(对不起)",而是间接地说"感谢の意を表する(表示谢意)"或"お礼申し上げます(致谢)"等,这种倾向越是在郑重的场面表现得越突出.

| Abstract: | On many occasions where it seems that westerns should say "thank you" to express their thanks,Japanese tend to offer an apology to achieve thesame purpose.For instance,when a student applies to his supervisor for permission to postpone the deadline of submitting his book report,a British student will say "thank you" to his tutor when his request is approvedl.However,the majority of Japanese students tend to say "I am sorry" to express the same meaning.It is not free for Japanese to use such expression way to extend gratitude;on the contrary,using such expression way is confined within certain circumstances.What's more,Japanese do not tend to express gratitude directly by saying "thank you" of "I am sorry",but tend to achieve the same purpose by saying "express gratitude" or "offer an apology". |
