青岛四年对梁实秋的意义

30年代初梁实秋从文化中心的上海来到相对边缘的青岛。他在国立青岛/山东大学四年所进行的教学、翻译及其他学术活动,表面看来是"逃避"或"败下阵来",其实是他重新认识现实,重新认识自己,重建文学自由话语的积累和准备。沉潜四年之后,梁终于做出再次回归新文化中心的选择。这体现了30年代中国一部分自由主义知识分子的内心真实———想超脱终又不甘心的精神矛盾。所以青岛四年对于我们研究梁实秋也有非同一般的意义。

The Impact of the Four Years' Life in Qingdao on Liang Shiqiu

At the beginning of the 1930s, Liang Shiqiu left Shanghai, the then cultural centre, to settle down in the marginal Qingdao. Apparently, his four years' teaching, translating and other academic work in the National Qingdao/Shandong University seem as if he has "been beaten" or to "have undergone failure", yet, this is his preparation and accumulation for his re-examination of the then reality, of himself and the reconstruction of literary discourses as a matter of fact. After four years' silence, he once more chose to return to Shanghai, the new cultural centre. This demonstrates the inner reality of part of the liberal intellectuals, viz. the contradiction between detachedness and unreconciledness. Consequently his for years stay in Qindao is of uncommon significance for the study of Liang Shiqiu.
