| 摘 要： | 《白鲸》给读者展示的是一个梦幻般的生态系统。亚哈所代表的自然征服者和以实玛利所代表的自然探索和沟通者以各自独特的方式在这一生态世界中与白鲸莫比-狄克所代表的其它非人类的生态成员进行了互动。作者麦尔维尔以象征的手法,通过亚哈的悲剧结局和以实玛利的幸存,超前地表达了一种现代生态观,即人类与非人类自然物之间应该摒弃仇杀,和谐共存。尽管他的呐喊湮没于当时仍然占据统治地位的基督教教义之中,但直至今日,其回响仍不绝于耳,警示人类审慎行事,以避免随时可能发生的毁灭性生态灾难。

| Abstract: | Moby-Dick unfolds itself as a dreamlike ecosystem.The human conquerors of nature and the explorers represented by Ahab and Ishmael interact in their respective ways with other members of this ecological world represented by Moby Dick.With the help of symbolic devices,Melville renders a trag- ic end of Ahab and a survival of Ishmael,which prophesizes a modern ecological understanding of the world based on a transfer from hostility and vengeance to harmony and coexistence for all the members. Though lost in the then dominant voices of Christianity,Melville's voice has been echoed through history alerting human beings to the always possible ecological catastrophes caused by human mischievousness. |
