Transformation of Holden's rebellious character in the Catcher in the Rye

In the novel The Catcher in the Rye,the young protagonist Holden Caulfield is labeled by critics as an anti-hero,who tries to find the "Pure Land" in an adult world permeated with hypocrisy and selfishness.His wandering in New York City is often considered as an escape from society.In fact,Holden has never estranged himself wholly from the adult world.Judging from the narratological perspective,it is remarkable that the rebellious character of Holden Caulfield is actually undergoing a gradual transformation: because of his personal limitations and the restrictions from the social environment,the protagonist finally resigns himself from escape to reconciliation with the society.
