This article comprehensively explores the development of the American black middle-class in the 20th century through focusing on its composition,its social status change and its pressure in the future.Author states that the evolution of the American black middle-class whether in the main composition or in the social status change in the 20th century all reflects American development in politics and economy as well as in the social progress of this period.The author further points out,because of the special position and status of the American black middle-class,its future development,to a certain extent,will encounter the dual pressure from both the white community and the black community.
