| Abstract: | Sxkopos theory is an approach to translation which reflects a general shift from predominantly linguistic and rather formal translation theories to a more functionally and socioculturally oriented concept of translation. According to skopos theory, it must be the intended purpose of the target text that determines translation methods and strategies. Thus three general rules must be observed in translation. They are the skopos rule, the coherence rule and the fidelity rule. |
