浅谈古诗英译中的再现与再创作

对古诗英译中的再现与在再创作问题做了对比分析,并在此基础上进行了反思.文章借鉴前人的翻译理论,尤其是弗米尔的目的论,选取庞德的唐诗译本与其他译本进行了比较分析,认为受众群体决定了翻译的目的.汉诗英译的主要受众群体是对汉文化感兴趣的英语母语人士,传达汉文化特色这个任务不是单靠归化的译法就可以做到的.文化的多样性使得对原作形式与内容的完全再现成为几乎不可能完成的任务.庞德的译法虽然并非尽善尽美,但为我们传达文化特点提供了很多启示.在保证译本可读性的同时,对原作形式进行某种程度的再现有利于文化的传播.

A Preliminary Discussion on Reproduction and Invention in Translating Ancient Chinese Poems

The paper is meant to be a reflection on the issue of reproduction and invention in translating ancient Chinese poems into English.Theories and views of many forerunners were referred to,particularly the Skopostheorie/skopos theory proposed by Hans.J.Vermeer.Translation of ancient Chinese poems by Pound and other translators were compared in the thesis,This paper illustrates that the purpose of translation lies with the receiver,and the receiver of translated Chinese ancient poems are mainly native speakers of English.Domestication alone does not suffice to convey the essence of Chinese culture and the diversification of cultures renders it literally impossible to replicate the soul and flesh of the original.Pound's translation,though not perfect,may offer many a clue: reproducing the original form while ensuring the decipherability of the translated version,which facilitates the spreading of the original culture.
