“跨代育儿组合”与中国独生子女的养育——评《中国独生子女政策与多重照顾》

"Intergenerational Parenting Coalition"and Parenting for the Only-child in China

Upbringing of the only-child is an important matter tbr urban families in China. Following the theory of the ＂bidirectional model＂ originally generated in western society, the book China＇s one-child policy and multiple caregiving： Raising little suns in Xiamen places the caregiving for only-child to the intergenerational parenting family system, and discusses the dynamics of how the only-child in China is raised up by their parents and grandparents in their families. It convincingly shows that the child is an active social actor rather than passive being, and thus their voices needs to be respected in parenting process. Bidirectional model, intergenerational parenting coalition, agency and other concepts discussed in the book have important implications for the practice and research on parenting for the only-child of family in China.
