| Abstract: | The records in the existing historical materials about number one scholar of successful candidates in the highest imperial examination of the Tang Dynasty are not consistent. This paper makes a textual research on the six disputing number one scholars and clarifies some wrong records in Stories of Talented Scholars in the Tang Dynasty, Talking About Distinguished People in Yuzhitang and Accounts of Passing the Civil-service Examination in Imperial Times. |
