汉英语篇结构差异的根本在于汉英语族人思维模式的不同。具体说来,中国人基于整体观的螺旋式思维方式使得汉语语篇一般呈(语)篇首开放、(语)篇尾收缩的事先铺垫型结构。与此相反,英语族人则倾向于以个体观为基础的直线式思维,英语语篇呈(语)篇首封闭、(语)篇尾开放的事后补充型结构。汉英语篇结构的差异无论在句子层面上还是在篇章层面上都得到体现。

The Structural Differences in Chinese and English Discourses:Minor Facts Pre-heaping and Minor Facts Post-complementing

Great structural differences exist in Chinese and English syntax and text as the result of the differences in their corresponding thought patterns.The Chinese discourses tend to write around the topic by heaping the minor facts,followed then at the very end by the theme.Contrarily,the English discourses often come to the point by putting the theme at the very beginning,with the supporting parts coming next.Such structural differences reflect themselves in both languages not only in the syntax but also in the text.
