长期以来,众多学者对孔子的教育思想、伦理思想等研究颇多,对孔子的美育思想却很少涉及。而孔子的美育思想在他的整个教育思想体系中占有着重要的地位,既有对"成于乐,游于艺"的艺术美感化的重视,又有对"智者乐山,仁者乐水"的自然美陶冶的倡导,更有对"君子之德风,小人之德草"的社会教化美的强调,系统探讨了孔子的美育思想,并深刻揭示了其社会道德教化思想对加强我们中华民族的社会道德建设和塑造民族性格的真切意义。

An Exploration of Confucius' Thoughts on Aesthetic Education

Voluminous research has been made on Confucius' thoughts on education and ethics while his i-deas on aesthetic education, though occupying an important place in his overall educational thoughts, have been largely neglected. Concretely speaking, Confucius' thoughts on aesthetic education can be divided into the following three categories. Firstly, he attaches great importance on the persuasive function of artistic beauty; secondly, he emphasizes the enlightening function of natural beauty; finally, he stresses the instructive function of social beauty. Thorough investigation is made in this paper into Confucius' thoughts on aesthetic education, with detailed discussions made on the significance of his social and moral teaching i-deas in strengthening China's social and moral construction and forming the character of the Chinese nation.
