Dialogue Theory and Oral Literature

Mikhail Bakhtin＇s dialogue theory exerted deep influence in many fields of the humanities and social sciences. In the field of oral literature, it provides new perspective to the investigation of the whole performing event and guiding principles to the study of utterance. Centering around utterance, dialogism and narrative strategy, this paper explores the essential common points between these basic concepts and oral literature and reveals the enlightenment of dialogue theory to the study of oral literature.
