The Financial Plunder of Qingdao by Japan During the War of Resistance Against Japan

The economic strategy of Japan's aggression against China was to "sustain the war by the war". After its occupation of Qingdao,Japan relentlessly carried out its financial plundering policy. First,it established Japanese banks which controlled Chinese banks,snatching the silver dollars stored in the Chinese banks and freezing and confiscating the deposits. Japanese banks issued a large quantity of counterfeit banknotes without any reserve and thus plundered China's strategic materials. They constantly ordered the legal tender be devalued in arbitrage of foreign exchange. This unchecked financial plunder resulted in great losses on the part of the Chinese people and met with their boycott to the best of their abilities.
