论孔孟“退隐”观的差异

孔孟思想虽有很大的一致性,但在"退隐"观上又有差异:一、退隐的前提不同。孔子的仕与隐侧重在"天下"与"邦"是否有道,其着眼点在"天下"与"邦";孟子的仕与隐则强调个人的穷与达,其着眼点在个人。二、退隐的具体含义不同。孔子的隐是"躲藏"起来的修身;孟子的隐则是:第一,"见于世"的修身,第二,功成身退。

On Differences between "Retirement" Viewpoints of Confucius and Mencius

Though the thought of Confucius and that of Mencius share great consistency, they do have some differences on the aspect of their "retirement" outlooks. First, their outlooks differ in the premise of the retirement. The Confucius's outlook of holding an official post and retirement lays emphasis on the country and nation to see if the world and nation have way while Mencius outlook of holding an official post and retirement emphasizes the individual's poverty and attainment, and its point to be attended to falls on the individual. Second, Confucius and Mensius differ from each other in the concrete meaning of "retirement". The Confucius's retirement means a moral cultivation in hiding while Mencius "retirement" is to see in the moral culture on the one hand and to retire after having made one's mark on the other.
