| Abstract: | Euphemism is a special type of language code for human being to convey their ideas. The formation of euphemism is caused by many factors but the understanding of it is mainly depended on the pre-positioned language situations.The paper expounds the semantic characteristics of euphemism and then, from the angle of acceptors' understanding of language, analyses the interpretation functions of the knowledge of pre-positioned language situations, such as that of cultural, contextual and individual subjective pre-positioned language situations, on the semantic meaning of it. |
