| Abstract: | Chinese-German Dictionary by Bin Bucheng in 1905 is the first dictionary of the kind compiled by a Chinese. As a historical text, it was not only a bridge of cross-cultural communication between China and Germany, but also the new perspective of cross-cultural research. Many emerging notions and concepts and technical terms were created since the Western Industrial Revolution and their transfer in Chinese was realized through bilingual dictionary. This study focuses on this dictionary, and tries to find out the motive of this compilation, background of the complier, compilation style, and analyzes translation methods |
