Kyila's Story

Kyila was born in 1985, near Mount Everest, in a small city called Lhatsa. Four members of her family are blind, including herself. At age 12, Kyila went to school in Lhasa, the biggest city in Tibet, with her two brothers. The school was established by Susan Sabriye Tenberken, a blind German girl. During her first 3 years of study, Kyila learned how to dress herself, how to make a bed, and how to eat and wash, as well as Chinese, English, computer skills, orientation, and Braille.
