A Study of The Bao Jia Residence Booklet of Baoning County During the Reign of the Qing Emperor Kangxi

The residence system in the Ming and Qing Dynasties underwent a process of evolution.Residence registration in the Qing Dynasty turned from Bian Shen system(household affairs concerning population and tax-collecting) to Bao Jia residence system,which is a great transfer of residence registration system in the Qing and Ming Dynasties.The Bao Jia Residence Booklet of Baoning County During the Reign of the Qing Emperor Kangxi is of great value to the study of residence registration system and social studies in the Anhui province.The fact that many households in the booklet had population other than the family members living in the house with them indicated the variety and complexity of the population at that time.This booklet also recorded many industries and extensive population floating.
