越南战争中的美英关系——以约翰逊—威尔逊政府时期为例

越南战争是美国在冷战时期遇到的最严峻的军事考验之一。为了使这场战争国际化,美国强烈要求其最重要的盟友———英国向越南派兵。但是,与以往不同的是,英国拒绝了美国的出兵要求,采取了与美国相悖的脱离政策,并坚持谈判解决越南问题的立场。美英在越南战争问题上的分歧给美英“特殊关系”蒙上了阴影,以至于有学者将约翰逊-威尔逊时期称为美英关系史上“几乎忘记了友谊”的“贫瘠年代”。

Anglo-American Relationship in the Vietnam War

Vietnam War was the severest test that the United States met during the Cold War Period. In order to internationalize the war, the United States asked its most important ally Britain to send troops to Vietnam. But Britain turned down the United States' request, dissociated itself from the bombing policy of the United States and insisted on mediating solving the issue through negotiation. The divergence and contradiction between Britain and the Unites States in the Vietnam War cast a shadow on Anglo-American special relationship.
