The Era of Multitudinous Nations in Ancient China--A Concurrent Discussion on the Origin and Geographical Distributive Characteristics of States and Nations in the Pre-Qin Period

The word "Wan Bang" (Multitudinous Nations) is a very popular conception with which scholars of the Pre Qin period made comments on the development of nations and states, and reflects the real situation of distribution of nations and states during that period. The nations of that time not only include the advanced kingdoms established by Hua Xia peoples who lived in the center of China, but also include those chiefdoms and tribe leagues of ethnic minorities distributed in the remote regions. Based on the scope of historical China's territory, the identification of the status and value of the Era of Multitudinous Nations will prove to be a great help to the study of the Pre Qin political geography and ethnic groups geography, a better understanding of the multiplicity and complexity, and the investigation of the evolution law of the states and nations in ancient China.
