Durkheim's sociological methodology and its contemporary significance

As the chief founder of sociology, Durkheim laid the important foundation for the classical sociological theories. The establishment of this science is closely related to the explanation capacity of its methodology in practice. With the development of sociological theories, however, there appears the opinion that the classical sociology and especially its methodology are out of date. Despite the great differences between the early and modern industrial societies in social structure and its relation with people, we hold that Durkheim’s theories are still of methodological significance to people’s observation manner of social structure and the social influence on people.
