Social Exclusion and Inclusion-An Approach to Analyze the Social Policy of Euro Pean Union

Social Exclusion Theory is a new field of social policy study in Europe. It is developing in the background of both the integration processes of European Union and the crisis of welfare states in Europe. Social exclusion refers to the fact that social member is geographically a resident in a society but cannot participate in the normal activities of the citizens in that society; though he/she would like to but is prevented from doing so by factors beyond his/her control. The problems of social exclusion affect realizing citizenship. European Union's research refers to social exclusion problems reaching to five social policy areas including health, employment, social protection, education and housing. Social policy is the mean of fighting against social exclusion and promoting social inclusion. European Union hopes to eliminate social exclusion by the modification and implementation of its social policy.
