| Abstract: | Based on Halliday’s theory of grammatical metaphors,and aided with the research results in the contrastive study of metaphors of mood in English and Chinese, this paper holds that correct understanding of the metaphors of mood in ancient Chinese poetry is vital to the appropriate reproduction of “spirit” in the target language. |
