The construction of self-consciousness of Hegelian master-slave dialectic originates from desire and accomplishes the totality of self-consciousness in its doubleness. Jacques Lacan subverts the self-sufficient subject concept in traditional philosophical thought, holding the concept of split subject, which considers the subject not as a unified subject centered on consciousness, but an unconscious subject in the de-centering process of split and alienation between subject and object, self and other.
