地方籍·地域性·文化叙事与经典

“地方籍”作家不一定都是“地域性”特别强烈的作家,而且,并不是任何乡土性、民族性强烈者,都能成为中国有代表性的作家,还要看是否具备与世界相通的文学精神。中国现代极富地域性的作家中,出自沿海一带较发达农业地区的少,而从偏僻的乡土所谓“边地”走来的却相当多。这造成一种“五四传统”,即在批判封建性的落后、愚昧当中更接近中国的本相。包括由乡土加深了解中国都市的特色;由地方文化的不平衡性,更好领会现代中国的复杂性;由边地民间文化资源的丰富性,体察到中国文学在向世界开放的同时,总是具有一种不断“寻根”的倾向。我们不妨将地域性作家的“寻根”看作是一种文化态度。但凡具备“大文化叙事”品格的作品,就可能成为“经典”。这种经典文学从“地域”出发,最终是应超越“地域”的。

Native Place, Regionalism, Cultural Narrative and the Classics

Writers of "native place" are not all the writers with especially strong "regionalism".Meanwhile,not anyone with strong provincialism or nationalism can become representative Chinese writer,for the qualification also depends on the cultural spirit coherent with the whole world.Among the modern Chinese writers with strong regionalism,few come from the comparatively developed coastland,and much more rise from the remote native land,the so-called "border land",This has made a "May Fourth tradition",which is much closer to the original features of China through the critique of her backwardness and ignorance.We might as well regard the tendency of "seeking root" as a kind of cultural attitude.Once a piece of writing bears the character of "grand cultural narrative",it is likely to be a "classic".And this kind of classical literature starts from the "region",yet it should transcend the "region" ultimately.
