英语同形异义词的动因分析

摘    要:语言的基本功能是交流信息,而信息的交流受到经济动因和象似动因的支配.前者要求表达尽可能地简化,后者要求语言结构在一定程度上反映人类认识世界的经验结构,要求一个语言形式代表一个意义.同形异义词的出现恰好体现了二者之间的矛盾与竞争.本文将从类型学中动因竞争的角度来解释英语中的同形异义词.

Abstract:The basic function of language is communication, which is controlled by both economic motivation and iconic motivation. The former one requires the simplest expression, while the latter one asks the parallel relations among parts in linguistic structure and relations among parts in the structure of what is signified. i.e. a distinct word for every distinct concept. The appearance of the homograph just reflect the confliction and the competition between these two motivations. This paper aims to explain the homonym from the angle of competing motivation model of economy and iconicity.
