The Choice between Two Kinds of Philosophy: On the Theme of Li Shao and Quyuan's Spirits

This paper reinterprets the theme of Li Shao and the spirits of Quyuan.The theme of the works and his spirits are mainly illustrated in the two important choices: first,the poet chose the active living philosophy of Confucianism instead of the passive one of Taoism,probing into the important questions of grasping one's own life,realizing one's ideal and upgrading his life value.The second choice was between life and death.The poet chose not to survive at the price of giving up his ideal and submitting to the notorious reality.The former choice is illustration of his thorough rational spirit and the latter of his grand morality,which in total make his spirit and character.
