Food Security and Health Anxiety: An Exploration of Influential Factors in Hazard Perceptions

People’s perception of social hazardous events, especially the hazard of food security, is influenced by multiple factors of the events themselves and the hazardous environment. Elements such as the extent of the public’s familiarity with the hazardous event, the event’s controllability, the subsequent disaster, the level of the whole society’s scientific knowledge, and the co-functions of mass media, more or less affect the depth and width of the public’s hazard perception. This way, the society’s panic will be aroused in various forms. The knowledge of the mechanism of these factors are of great significance for the modern hazard spreading and crisis control.
